Marshall Clement “Mark” Sanford, Jr. (born May 28, 1960) is an American Republican politician who has been Governor of South Carolina since 2003.

Before his senior year of high school, Sanford moved with his family to a 3,000-acre (12 km2) Coosaw Plantation near Beaufort, South Carolina from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he grew up. Sanford attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
